Alright so...

Blogs been ignored lately. I'm sorry. We've been busy. The holiday season is always a busy time anyway, but we've actually been busy in the studio as well. I'm happy to report that we're nearing completion on the first half of the record and we've got studio time slated for January to begin construction on the next batch of songs. We're aiming for a MAY 2010 release. We'll have to see though! Anyway in the meantime, we uploaded some sweet eye candy to our myspace page. Go check out our pics!

First half of the album is nearly complete

Wow, ok... time for a more proper update and it's a good one! We're nearing the end of the first half of the tunes for our upcoming record. I must say I'm really proud of how everything is sounding right now. Yesterday we dove into the nitty gritty of some of the tunes. We're taking some chances with some of these songs too which is nice. All that's left of these songs are some vocal parts, some piano and then mixing. We've decided we're going to post one more song for you all for christmas and then after that the freebie's are done!

Ahhh man...

Does anyone even read this? I'd like to think so. In any event, this isn't really that exciting of an update. Nothing special to mention. We're back in the studio next to work on some of the tunes some more. We've written an additional 3 songs with Cam and Joey, so things are definitely starting to pick up. It's pretty cool having everything be fresh and new. Good feeling.

I just spent a bit applying for some government grants. Music, websites etc. Heck, should we apply for a video grant?! Why not? I think so. Our ugly mugs on in a video! Makes sense to me. Can't be any worse than Lady Gaga... or wait... maybe it could be. Maybe we should dress Joey up as Lady Gaga... then do a video?! I dunno...

Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel

As I sit here with a nice cold Guiness, I reflect on the week that was. Charles and I spent some more time in the studio with Dean working on our new record. It was awesome. And we're excited that finally people can start to hear what we've been up to. Head over to our MYSPACE to listen to our first single "Sound the Alarm". Let us know what you think!

The first weekend is done

Alright, so the first weekend of recording is now complete and was a ton of fun! We accomplished quite a bit and we're really happy with everything. We put down drum tracks to 4 songs, and have begun dissecting each song in terms of bass, guitars, vocals etc! A big thank you to Max Figueredo who sat in on drums. If it weren't for Max we wouldn't have even been in the studio this weekend! We owe him a lot! Cheers!

Here are some videos from the weekend:

Just demoing a new song

Alright, so big update!

Alright,

It's time for a more proper band update.
As I sit here on Thanksgiving weekend (in Canada) and reflect on all the things we have coming up, I can't believe how much work we have ahead of us, but it's all going to be well, well worth it.

1) The band: Although it's too soon to announce anything concrete, well that... and we like dragging out the suspense...we've been meeting various people around the city and Charles and I are pretty confident that we've met/found some cool people to be a part of this project! FINALLY! Again more announcements coming soon, but we can't wait.

2) The Record: Alright, so after several pints of Guiness, Steamwhistle... and yes even some shots of Tequila, Charles and I decided we're going to work towards a full length release! Yep, an LP! All professionally done up, packaged, the works. You want it on vinyl? Well... we'll probably get some vinyl pressed then! Who knows? At this point, the first thing is we're breaking ground in a week! We'll be working with Dean Watson at Gallery Recordings here in Ottawa. Dean did such a good job on The Rebel Year's last record that I was itching to work with him again. So we can't wait. Max will be tracking drums to 4 songs. Anyway, it's going to be a lot of fun, we're really pumped about it.

3) The Shows: So we decided early on that we were not going to do any full band shows until the record came out. That doesn't mean though that we're not playing at all though!!! We have some acoustic shows coming up in the Ottawa area:

October 19 - Zaphods
October 24 - Mavericks w/ Bruce Penninsula
November 27 - Mavericks - Algonquin College fundraiser

Toronto/Montreal et all... don't worry we're going to be coming your way in 2010. We're also going to be doing some runs down into the US as well.

So... there you go! An update!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Things blowing my mind

1) You hear about that Letterman thing? Where he admitted to having sex with people on his show?! Crazy!!!

2) This performance from the Verve at Glastonbury 2 years ago. I know they broke up but man!

Recovery

So... in short, there's been no new news because I've been recovering. Long story short, I pulled a bunch of muscles in my neck, which have made singing, and swallowing food, water, saliva, extremely difficult. I was ordered to rest for the next little while. So we haven't been writing much, but we've still been working on music with our friend Max behind the kit. We hit the studio in October, so there will be new music coming your way soon!!! Promise. Hope to have some new demo's up soon guys! Promise!

First show is now done!

Hey all,

Our first show is now in the books. Thanks to everyone who came out Saturday night to check us out. We had a great time. We're looking at finishing up some songs right now and working towards the studio time we have booked in October. We're hoping to put together a show in November and hopefully it will be full band!

Ocean

Hey all,

Another new demo posted up on our myspace.
It's called Ocean.

Funny story about this song, it was one of the first one's I wrote ... ever. Back when I was 15 and I had just bought my guitar, I wrote two songs, this one and another which I ended up playing in my first band Revolver. Kind of funny that some 12 odd years later, Ocean surfaces. Anywho! It's up there. Would love to get some feedback!

Things are definitely on the go.

So Charles and I have been busy busy, writing more material and putting together the set for our first ever show. We think we have something pretty good on the go. We're going to put the finishing touches on a few more tunes by week's end and post them up on our myspace. Until then, you should just go to our myspace anyway, become a fan and show us some love, because we need love to run this machine... it's like our fuel.

More soon...very soon.

Drums!

So this past week Charles and I holed ourselves up in a rehearsal studio with our good friend Max Figueredo. Max and I go way back and he's helping us out by providing drums for us here in the early going. We're super pumped about it, the songs came out sounding great!

More to come

Welcome... new beginnings

Hey there,

Welcome to our new blog. If you've landed here, then you've somehow found out about the band. Good for you! We're a new upstart project. Two good friends who've come together to write some music. We've decided this will be a more free, creative and less restrictive collaboration. We have a lot of cool things coming up!

We're beginning rehearsals this week with a friend of ours Max, who will be assisting us on drums until a more permanent member can be found. We've got close to 10 songs written, so it's going to be a lot of sifting, sorting, changing, fixing etc...

Recording is slated for October!

And hey! We have a show!

You guys are cool cats for coming to this page and you deserve better!!!
