Where we're at.
Wow ok, so I'd like to say that we've gotten a lot better at updating this thing, but clearly we haven't. We've been really busy, which I know, is no excuse, but it's the truth. We've actually been doing a lot of behind the scenes stuff lately, so that in the end what you see and hear will be a better band and better product. We entered our rehearsal room recently and started ripping apart our set and reconstructing back into something bigger, better and louder. We feel this is going to have a tremendous impact on our live shows we have coming up this fall. We've been playing these songs for a while, so we thought it was time to change them up from how they sound on the CD. We're also peppering in some of the newer stuff we've been writing too so we're really excited to debut this new set to you guys.
Kingston, you're first up!
We're playing a show next Friday, September 17th, in Kingston at the Mansion. We're really excited to be hitting K-town again!
Ottawa, you're right after on September 24th at the Live Lounge. This is a very important night for us, as we've been selected to play the Live 88.5 Big Money Shot! The winner of the competition walks away with $150,000 towards artist development. This first night, September 24th, we have the chance to walk away with $5,000! We're really excited and we really need all our friends and fans in attendence to help cheer us on! We hope to see you there. More details on Live885.com
We have another southern Ontario jaunt scheduled for October. We're working on adding more dates but thus far we have:
October 20 - Barrie, ON - Kenzington
October 21 - Toronto, ON - C'est What?
October 22 - Burlington, ON - Red Rooster Tavern
Also in November we're planning a little run through Quebec, thus far all we have is
November 25 - Montreal, QC - Divan Orange - tickets on sale through indiemontreal.ca
We also have a STORE up and running too now! CHECK IT OUT
That's it for now. More fall dates to be announced.
Kingston, you're first up!

Foiled again!
Sorry Montreal, we've once again had to cancel our upcoming show due to circumstances beyond our control. We'll try and reschedule soon, but we won't be there August 17th anymore. :(
Otherwise things have been going really well! We recently had the pleasure of opening for In-Flight Safety at their show in Ottawa and it was wicked. Such a nice group of guys. We played a strong set, debuted two new songs, and met a lot of new fans in our hometown! Right on Ottawa!
We have another big hometown show coming up August 12th at Babylon. It's going to be our last hometown show for a while so come check it out. We're going to be playing with Keek, these guys are wicked good and just recently won the Hot89.9 "Battle of the Beats". We can't wait. Advanced tickets are on sale now so snatch them up because trust me, this show WILL sell out!!!
We're also rocking the Mod Club Theatre in Toronto again this Saturday! Free guestlist before 11, so message us to be on it!

Tour wrap up
Well, that's it folks first tour is in the books. We're all back home now getting caught up on all the sleep we missed out on over the last week. We had a blast! And we met so many awesome people and bands. We left off in Tillsonburg so I will try and brief both shows that we had left:
Barrie:
We rolled into Barrie after two comfortable nights in London staying with a friend of mine. We were a bit tired but determined to finish the last two shows off in proper fashion. We played a cool little joint in Barrie called The Foxx Lounge. The crowd was small, but we got soe great applause/feedback and sold quite a lot of cd's. So we'll chalk that up to a win in our books! The interesting thing about Barrie is just how beat up and rundown it is... especially right around the venue itself and in the roach motel we stayed in that night. Whilst checking in, I was interrupted by a hooker paying the hotel manager his cut of her latest "job" with the message that she'll see him again in a few hours. We slept in sleeping bags on the bed and no matter how many times you showered you just didn't feel clean... but we survived.
Burlington:
Probably the best show of the tour. We awoke that morning to discover a down pour, so knowing we couldn't hit the beach that day we opted to spend the day indoors and drove to Yorkdale Mall in Toronto. It's huge so it occupied a lot of our time. We then drove over to Burlington where the sun came out... beach time! We rolled up to the Red Rooster, set up and enjoyed the venue. It's a great little roadhouse type spot. Great sound, friendly staff and awesome musicians. We met THESE GUYS and we are definitely going to be hooking up some shows with them.
We then drove home overnight back to Ottawa arriving at around 5:30am.
We had such an incredible time on the road! Thank you so much to everyone that bought cd's and rocked out with us. It was such a blast that we're talking of hitting the road again in August/September. We'll keep you posted. We're taking the week off to do our own thing, and then we're back at it writing new tunes. Our next scheduled show is July 26th at Zaphods opening for Inflight Safety. We'll hopefully be debuting some new tunes for you at that show!

Ahhh Tillsonburg!
How many bands can say they played Tillsonburg? Well we can. It was a good old fashioned hoe down! The day started off great, an old friend of mine from high school now living in the London area was gracious enough to put us up for two nights. We love him for it. So we woke up yesterday morning and hit the great city of London. We hung out and then hit the road to Tillsonburg. Things weren't looking too promising as it was just an endless amount of farm fields but then we happened upon this quiet little town called Tillsonburg. Things got off to an interesting start when a play fight between Alex and Charles drew the attention of local OPP but they left when they realized we were all friends. We performed with an interesting duo called The Sarah and Jeff show... I really don't know how to describe it to you, so check them out HERE You'll see what I mean.
I thought we played a pretty good set, sold some merchandise after too which is great! We had a warm reception in Tillsonburg! What can we say other than it rocked!?
Here was our set list:
Wellington City Skyscraper
To See you Get Through
Sound the Alarm
Ocean
Best Way Home
Secret Service
Run Away
Familiar Old Sun
Straight and Narrow
Along the Way
We're off to Barrie soon for the show tonight at the Foxx Lounge. Then tomorrow is our last stop in Burlington at the Red Rooster Tavern! So far so good people!

Resting up in London
So we made it to London. We're tired and feeling a bit haggard but otherwise everything is going well. We played an interesting set in Toronto, toned down and acoustic at The Press Club. The nicest people in the world work there. We actually had a great time and played a really cool set. Spent the day at Sandbanks drinking on the beach so it was cool to play a more relaxing set.
Next up is Tilsonburg tonight!!! See you there!

Hopefully the first of many to come! We'll see. So tonight the first show is in Kingston at the Mansion. This is a newer place but it's been getting some wicked feedback. We're stoked that we're getting the chance to play there! It's going to be wicked. Alright, I'm off to meet up with the rest of the guys and the great blue whale (our van) which will be our home for the next 5 days and nights.
I will report in after the first show.

So we leave for tour tomorrow
So... what a day. Our tour starts tomorrow and what do I wake up to this morning. A notice that our Toronto show was cancelled. Want to know the reason why?! Not enough people RSVP'd to the facebook event... the very facebook event that said promoter only put up 2 days ago. I mean... really... facebook. WTF happened to promoter's actually PROMOTING events. I'll admit, facebook is an amazing tool, it really is, but come on people. As a concert promoter, one would think you'd actually get out there and promote the god damn event. In any event... we lost the show.
Luckily I got on the phone right away all day and landed us an acoustic slot. We're now playing The Press Club on Dundas acoustically at 9pm on Wednesday. Thank god.
First show is tomorrow in Kingston! Spread the word we hope to see everyone out there this week!
June 22 - Kingston, ON - The Mansion
June 23 - Toronto, ON - The Press Club (acoustic)
June 24 - Tilsonburg, ON - Norma Jeans
June 25 - Barrie, ON - Foxx Lounge
June 26 - Burlington, ON - Red Rooster Tavern
We're going to be updating this blog throughout the week.

Wow... what a kick ass weekend
First and foremost, a big big THANK YOU to everyone who made this weekend so special for us. The album officially comes out Tuesday and what better way to release it than to play two amazing shows, completely sell out of our first run of copies and play two amazing clubs!
Let's recap:
Friday, we played the big hometown gig and everyone was loud and we were loving it! Shirts were flying off the merch table and all the copies we had made of our CD were snatched up. You guys were loud, it was sweaty and it was fun. In fact it was so sweaty that Alex had to wring his shirt out. Mmmmmm.
Here was our setlist:
Wellington City Skyscraper
To See You get Through
Sound the Alarm
Ocean
Best Way Home
Straight and Narrow
Familiar Old Sun
Run Away
Secret Service
Along the Way
(Encore) You Don't Know What you Want
Saturday: we loaded up the van and hit the 401. We were the special guest band for the UK Underground party, which for those of you who don't know is a big kick ass dance party DJ'ed by Mark Holmes, formerly of Platinum Blonde. We arrived, we rocked it and even had the people on the floor dancing. Great great night!!!
Here's a pic!
So that's it, the album is officially out Tuesday and we hope to have rightbymidnight.com up and running by then for you to be able to buy a copy! Stay tuned.

Haven't blogged in a while
Hey guys
So it's been a while since we've done a really proper update and so much has gone on that made it difficult to get caught up on noting and blogging. So that being said, let's get everyone up to speed.
First things first, the album is ready to go. I'm sitting here right now staring at boxes of cd's, and t-shirts for that matter, just waiting for all you guys. We're so excited to finally be at this stage of bringing everything that we've worked so hard on to you for your enjoyment. As many of you know the record is dropping May 18th for purchase (shortly after on itunes as there was a bit of a delay) but to celebrate everything starting next Tuesday May 11th, we're going to stream the album in its entirety over on our CBC Radio 3 page, which you can find here:
http://radio3.cbc.ca/#/bands/Right-by-Midnight
We're also doing all kinds of press leading up to the show. A few weeks back we partook in a little online interview performance called "BandsUndone" and you can check out our videos here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vldfUn8OdlQ
and here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bIUaqr1Gl0&feature=related
Next Thursday May 13th we will be featured in the Ottawa Citizen as well as doing an interview on Carleton University Radio CKCU. The interview airs at 11pm and you can listen live by clicking the following link:
http://www.ckcufm.com/
And then finally, two big live shows, our birth into the Canadian music scene. Zaphods in Ottawa and The Mod Club Theatre in Toronto. We are beyond excited for these I can't even describe it to you! So pumped! We can't wait.
We also have a ton more shows booked for the summer including some smaller tours even. So check out our myspace and get all the dates:
www.myspace.com/rightbymidnight
That's all for now!

Wow ok
So point is, we suck at blogging. I know... and I'm sorry. I'm not sure the other guys care, but I do. So news... we finished our record. It's done. It's now in the hands of mastering guru Ryan Mills, and then off to the presses. So. Yay! 10 months of recording, more recording and then re-recording are now done and gone and we're really happy to almost have the final product. Artwork is done and the track list is chosen! So without further ado, ladies and gents, on May 18, 2010 "Right by Midnight" will be released. Here's the tracklisting:
Wellington City Skyscraper
Along the Way

Sound the Alarm
Best Way Home

Thank you Montreal
Wow, what a fantastic night. We had a great sampler party down at Centre Ste Ambroise. We played a fairly good set with a lot of goof ups and some good laughs. The after-party at the Irish Embassy was just as good too! So many great fans and friends in Montreal.
So here's the skinny!
We're wrapping up recording on the debut album this week. We've been mixing as we've been going along, but we're going to spend the next few weeks putting together the songs and the album. From there it's on to mastering and then pressing and then in your hands!
You can order tickets to our album launch May 14th at Zaphods right HERE
More news to come soon!

Alright so time for another big proper update!
Hey all, finally taking the time to type a proper update to everyone. Lots of news to cover and some seriously cool announcements to be made, where possible I am going to toss in some pics!
First up, to all of you in Ottawa that packed the Avant Garde Bar last Saturday for our sampler party thank you so much. All of our copies we made are gone and we love you for it. Good vibes and great times all around. We received a ton of positive feedback from the show which reassures us that we are on the right path concerning this record.
Next up is our sampler release in Montreal. It all goes down Saturday March 13th at Centre Ste Ambroise. The lovely June Lashley who did a kick ass job in Ottawa will be opening up for us again in Montreal. We hope to see everyone there.
Next up, we HAVE A NEW DRUMMER! Ladies and gents this band has now become a family affair as our beloved bass player Joey's younger brother Alex Patrois has jumped on board as our new drummer. We're really stoked to have Alex's amazing skill behind the kit added to our sound. He's going to bring a new ferocity and musical sense to the band that I think will only be beneficial to us, so everyone say hi and hug him at our next show to let him know he's loved! We'll hug him too, but we figure the more hugs the better.
Speaking of shows, we're really stoked to announce the two following shows timed around the release of our debut record (slated for May 18th). On FRIDAY MAY 14TH we will be rocking Zaphods in Ottawa for our big CD release bash! You can buy your tickets online RIGHT HERE however, we have some really sweet deals for you if you buy them in person through the band. They are as follows:

On Sunday April 18th we're going to be performing acoustically on a cool web program called BANDS UNDONE for a cool acoustic session and interview to discuss the record.
On May 13th we'll be live on the air on CKCU to discuss the new record and play some acoustic tunes as well and there's more to come.
There... I think I said enough for today!

So we're thinking of where we should do some shows?!
Hey all,
So shows are slowly starting to be planned and trickle in and we're definitely getting excited for things. Any idea where we should play?

Update on the progress of the album
Hey all,
I swear I need to get better at updating our blog. I'm sorry!
So the album is really coming along now. I would say we're about... 70% complete. For Charles and I it's coming to a point we didn't think we'd ever see last September when we started recording this thing. We're working really really hard to get it finished. There's just some piano parts, vocals and backing vocals to add before we move to the final mix, then mastering, then pressing. It's hopefully going to be really really awesome when we're done. I'm actually really excited about this! Here's some cool pics of us boys in action!

A proper update!
Hey all,
We've been quiet and for that we apologize, it's not that we don't like to let people in on what we're doing, it's just that as a group we've been quite busy with what we're doing. As I sit here on a lazy Sunday afternoon in between games of NHL '10 on the PS3, I figure its time I fill you all in on what's happening with the band lately.
First up, we're sad to announce, that Cam has left the group. We're definitely sad to see him go as he has been an integral part of the bands early successes and our songwriting. Seems however, that distant lands are calling young Cam away and we in the band are happy for him and we wish him all the luck and success he deserves in the future. We were also fortunate enough to have him come in and lay down all his drum tracks for the second batch of songs for the album (more on that in a second). That being said, we're looking for a new drummer. This would be the perfect time to have someone jump right in and learn the tunes we're recording. If you guys know of anyone who's:
- serious and committed
- between the ages of 19-35
- able to play to a click track (drummers will know what this means)
then please email us at rightbymidnight@gmail.com
Onto the album. Before Christmas, Charles and I wrapped up recording on the initial 5 songs for the album. Yesterday we walked into Gallery Recording and within a matter of hours rattled off 7 new songs, well drum take wise. Everyone was thoroughly impressed with the speed and accuracy we recorded these tunes. I've been in recording sessions many many times before and I must say, never have I been privy to the type of session we had yesterday! It was awesome! Today we're back in the studio this evening to wrap up bass and hopefully take a huge bite out of the guitars! We're back in there all next weekend as well. Album is scheduled to be out May 2010. We uploaded a new track to our myspace OCEAN. Go check it out.
On the shows front, we have two special acoustic shows coming up that we'd like you to be a part of. These are going to be small, intimate acoustic shows that we will use to hand out free samplers from the record. The dates are as follows:
- February 27, 2010 - Ottawa, ON - Avant Garde Bar
- March 13, 2010 - Montreal QC - Centre Ste Ambroise
We hope to see you all there.
That's it for now.
