A proper update!

Hey all,

We've been quiet and for that we apologize, it's not that we don't like to let people in on what we're doing, it's just that as a group we've been quite busy with what we're doing. As I sit here on a lazy Sunday afternoon in between games of NHL '10 on the PS3, I figure its time I fill you all in on what's happening with the band lately.

First up, we're sad to announce, that Cam has left the group. We're definitely sad to see him go as he has been an integral part of the bands early successes and our songwriting. Seems however, that distant lands are calling young Cam away and we in the band are happy for him and we wish him all the luck and success he deserves in the future. We were also fortunate enough to have him come in and lay down all his drum tracks for the second batch of songs for the album (more on that in a second). That being said, we're looking for a new drummer. This would be the perfect time to have someone jump right in and learn the tunes we're recording. If you guys know of anyone who's:

- serious and committed
- between the ages of 19-35
- able to play to a click track (drummers will know what this means)

then please email us at rightbymidnight@gmail.com

Onto the album. Before Christmas, Charles and I wrapped up recording on the initial 5 songs for the album. Yesterday we walked into Gallery Recording and within a matter of hours rattled off 7 new songs, well drum take wise. Everyone was thoroughly impressed with the speed and accuracy we recorded these tunes. I've been in recording sessions many many times before and I must say, never have I been privy to the type of session we had yesterday! It was awesome! Today we're back in the studio this evening to wrap up bass and hopefully take a huge bite out of the guitars! We're back in there all next weekend as well. Album is scheduled to be out May 2010. We uploaded a new track to our myspace OCEAN. Go check it out.

On the shows front, we have two special acoustic shows coming up that we'd like you to be a part of. These are going to be small, intimate acoustic shows that we will use to hand out free samplers from the record. The dates are as follows:

- February 27, 2010 - Ottawa, ON - Avant Garde Bar
- March 13, 2010 - Montreal QC - Centre Ste Ambroise

We hope to see you all there.

That's it for now.

Alright so...

Blogs been ignored lately. I'm sorry. We've been busy. The holiday season is always a busy time anyway, but we've actually been busy in the studio as well. I'm happy to report that we're nearing completion on the first half of the record and we've got studio time slated for January to begin construction on the next batch of songs. We're aiming for a MAY 2010 release. We'll have to see though! Anyway in the meantime, we uploaded some sweet eye candy to our myspace page. Go check out our pics!

First half of the album is nearly complete

Wow, ok... time for a more proper update and it's a good one! We're nearing the end of the first half of the tunes for our upcoming record. I must say I'm really proud of how everything is sounding right now. Yesterday we dove into the nitty gritty of some of the tunes. We're taking some chances with some of these songs too which is nice. All that's left of these songs are some vocal parts, some piano and then mixing. We've decided we're going to post one more song for you all for christmas and then after that the freebie's are done!

Ahhh man...

Does anyone even read this? I'd like to think so. In any event, this isn't really that exciting of an update. Nothing special to mention. We're back in the studio next to work on some of the tunes some more. We've written an additional 3 songs with Cam and Joey, so things are definitely starting to pick up. It's pretty cool having everything be fresh and new. Good feeling.

I just spent a bit applying for some government grants. Music, websites etc. Heck, should we apply for a video grant?! Why not? I think so. Our ugly mugs on in a video! Makes sense to me. Can't be any worse than Lady Gaga... or wait... maybe it could be. Maybe we should dress Joey up as Lady Gaga... then do a video?! I dunno...

Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel

As I sit here with a nice cold Guiness, I reflect on the week that was. Charles and I spent some more time in the studio with Dean working on our new record. It was awesome. And we're excited that finally people can start to hear what we've been up to. Head over to our MYSPACE to listen to our first single "Sound the Alarm". Let us know what you think!
